I have really thick, curly and coarse hair. I started using the my sister's straightener, the chi, and I love it. I have to buy a flat iron for myself now though. The chi protects against humditiy and keeps my hair looking healthy and straight. Everyday I get numerous comments on my hair. But it takes so long to straigthen and I was wondering if the new wet to dry ones would be worth it. It's $250 for the wet to dry and $150 for the chi. What would be more worth it?

Ive never actually used a wet to dry iron but I do have the Chi iron. I think you should just stick with the Chi. Its less expensive and even though it takes a long time you have already found that it works great for you. What if you spent all that money and the wet to dry one didnt work as good? I wish I could help you on the Chi because my boyfriend's dad owns a beauty supply shop and I can get them for nearly cost!! ($80) Good Luck though :)

I have the conair one from wal mart with ceramic plates - it was about $25. It works really well and has lasted over three years so far. If you're hair isn't too thick you can get the thin version for cheaper.

Depends on if you have thick or thin hair... if you have thin hair a conair straightener should work fine but if you have thick hair, cheap straighteners wont work... unless you have like 3 hours to do your hair... Ive tried and paul mitchell works, its like $100 but it lasts forever and take like 5 minutes to straighten my hair and i have thick long hair

Well a great cheap one is from Hot Tools, it costs about $45 original price, but I can email you a coupon for 20% off at a JcPenney Salon, since I work there. This is THE best cheap straightener. But when you do eventually have the money, definately get a CHI, and get it from JcPenney Salon, they have the best sales, you can get one there for $60 under the retail price sometimes.

You can buy a corioliss, it is the same or better than a chi and they are more than $100 but you can buy them online for under $30. It has tourmaline plates, so it makes your hair softer over time.

I straighten my hair with a Nicky Clarke straightener. Though I find it difficult to straighten the right side seeing as I am right handed too. When I have straightened it %26amp; its perfect I go to school. The problem is around an hour later (most probably because of the harsh winds in Winter time) my hair goes all wavy and tangly again and it gets all these split ends. Its hard to explain.

What should I do? Isn't their a way to stop this? Any products/shampoos I can use? Normally when I brush my hair when it goes like that it gets a bit better, but I cant keep brushing my hair all day! Other girls in my school straighten their hair and they never get flyaway brittle hair! I know my hair isnt dry because it gets greasy quite quickly too! HELP!

All good hair starts with a good shampoo, get a defrizzing shampoo or something that adds moisture so your hair doesnt tangle and get weird. chi makes a fatastic shampoo for that, as well as biolage.

I would try chi silk infusion or biosilk serum .. both of them work wonders and keep hair straight, silky, and smelling good. I have long hair too .. and these are the only products that actually do what they are supposed to. dont bother getting the cheap walmart knock offs if you want it to work. Also I would suggest using a finishing spray to get the stragglers any of which are fine.

during the winter months especially if your hair is naturally wavy your hair will knot up due to slpit ends, and the use of the straightener. I suggest letting your hair natural during the winter with the use of salon quality products. If you still want to straighten your hair during the winter I also suggest that you do it with a round brush while you give yourself a blow out. hummudity is your problem dear. It's because of the moisture in the air; and you can't help if the wind tangles your hair so you know why that happens(which I hate when that happens.... %26gt;=[ ) I suggest to use Garniea sleek,shine, sheer (or how ever you spell it) I'm serious it works, You really feel all the oils and stuff like it's just falling out of your hair.ANd It feels like you just came out of a salon. And that would help hummidity, next i would suggest when you strighten your hair do it in layers. And clip all the outher layers and when your done with one put another layer down, strighten... I straighten my hair everyday with a big, round brush. Also, I found a product I love.It's by garnier nutriesse. It's in a small ball containiner. It's call sleek and shine. I put it on when my hair is wet (1 pump only). When I dry it, there is NO frizz. Then when my hair is dry, I put half a pump to tame the fly aways. It's awesome. And it smells so good. I have thin wavy hair that splits and breaks wa too easily, and gets all frizzy if i look at it wrong in the mirror. Stylists call it "Babyfine! How Cute!" still, and i am 24 so you can imagine what i deal with to get my hair to cooperate. What i do is i wash my hair every other day, comb it out wet and then i flip my hair a few times to give it a little body. Then i wait about 10 minutes (because i hate wasting time on my hair, but want it to look nice) and blow dry it completely upside down until its dry. the whole time i comb it straight with either a medium to large tooth comb, something with teeth wider than you would normally use but not too much wider, or i use my fingers. Anyhow keep straightening it with the brush or comb as i blow dry it. When dry, i stand back upright, and brush my dry hair straight, use a light aerosol hairspray, coat it, brush it out, coat it, brush it out. From here i have straight hair with body all day till i go out in the rain, lol. I dont know how much better this is than a straightener, but although my hair splits easily it seems to hold up remarkably well through this process. I have to keep it in a tight ponytail all day at work, and i pretty much otherwise ignore my hair, and it does ok. Get an ionic dryer to minimise damage, and i use Infusium moisturizing shampoos and conditioners and Aussie hairspray. Hope it helps!

You can always blow dry it straight. Clip sections off and use a round brush to straighten each section. This process will take longer than a straightner would and there might be a slight curl at the end (curled under or out). There are many straightners out there that are safer for your hair. I personally straighten my hair daily and my hairdresser always comments on how healthy my hair it. I think you just have to be careful and use a heat setting that works for your hair type.

My hair has not been the way that I want it to be. Before it used to be straight, but I cut it really short in December, and i kept it tied all the time. Now, it kind of curls at the end, but its not pretty. Its like you have short hair and it flips at the back and the end. I want it straight, without using the straightener or the permanent straight perm. And if I do have to use the straightener, any tips on doing the back hair? Also, how do you make your hair thicker and softer? I already eat a lot of protein. What kind of shampoo should I use? The one for normal hair? i have the same problem. I use citre shine hair oil. it adds shine and subtracts frizz. any other brand will work. if your hair iis curly, use curlers or hot rollers while your hair is damp. if its straight, keep it loosely braided until dry. finish with a little spray to hold. PS blowdrying is a no no.

Only option if it really is that frizzy is to put it up in a bun with a hairband. You know- a ponytail, only you don't pull all the hair through. If you can get it right, it can sometimes look cute.

Well, I guess there are also always braids. For covering up frizz, frenh braids work best because they start at the ery top of your hairline so everything gets put in them.

There's not a lot you can do with frizzy hair and no product. This might seem wierd, but try a beauty school. When I was in beauty school, we were doing all the services, we were closely monitored, and it was cheap. I think thats the closest to professional help if you don't want to spend that much money. Check out the Murray's Hair Pomade website: http://www.murrayspomade.com/home2.html. A bit of pomade is very effective for quickly taming frizzy hair and making it smoother, shinier and wavier or straighter, if that's what you prefer. Just don't use too much.

Combs and barrettes also can be a great help and you could always slick it back with pomade or gel and try an elegant french twist: very easy and looks great.

I have tried EVERYTHING!!!!! Seriously. I am desperate. I have to straighten my hair before I can even curl it!!! I've been doing the John Freida Frizz Eaze system- and even that isn't really working!!! I've been using the shampoos and conditioners, and the serum, and the finshing products- and nothing works!!! It will be fine for like 20 mins- then it will puff up. It doesn't really frizz up, it does more of a puffy thing. Like it will puff up, bust still have curls in it. But did the relaxer thing all through high school. I hate to say this, but every time your doing this. Your damaging your hair slowly every time.

Make sure your heat settings are on low. And part sections of your hair and take little bits of hair and straighten.

4. Blow dry my hair. I hold the drier at the top of my head and aim it down toward the ends of my hair.

5. Use Pureology leave-in conditioner (sometimes I skip.. doesn't really make a difference).

6. Seperate my hair into two sections, and straighten each.

7. Use Goldwell kerasilk stuff again.

8. Hairspray.

You can't just go over once, as well. I usually have to go over each section around 3 times.

Curly frizzy hair suuuuuucks. =)

Blow dry your hair first. Aim the heat stream down the hair from the top of your head, this will keep it from getting very poofy and out of control, and also will speed up the straigtening process. Go ahead and plug in your flat-iron to heat up while you're blow-drying your hair.

Straigten your hair in layers. You can divide your hair into three layers. This is what I do.

I pull my hair up into a half ponytail, and twist that ponytail into a bun so it is out of the way. I blow-dry the hair that is left hanging down. Once it is dry, go ahead and straighten it with a flattening iron, taking about an inch or two at a time into the iron, depending on the thickness of your hair. If your hair is thick, this will take longer (no way around that, I'm afraid!)

Once the first layer is straightened, pull that section into a loose ponytail to get it out of the way of the second layer. Take down half of the hair that was in your half ponytail and do the same thing that you did with the first layer. Blow-dry it, then straighten it. Once the second layer is straightened, pull the second layer into the loose ponytail with the first section of hair.

Drop the rest of your hair down. Blow-dry it, and flatten it with a flat iron. Then you can take out the loose ponytail and touch up any places that you need to.

I reccomend using some defrizzer on your hair when you are done straigtening it.

I haven't tried the L'oreal Hot Straight spray. I need to try it out. I don't know if it's just my hair or what, but if I use any straightening shampoo or product in my hair, it makes it curlier. Without frizz of course. So, it makes trying to straighten my hair a nightmare. What works for me to keep it straight for multiple days, is to blow dry it first to stretch the curls, and then flat iron it. I always apply some pomade to my hair before I flat iron it because it holds the straight style very well, but it's not wet, so it doesn't make it wavy. It's also good for the flyaways on the top.

I straighten my hair almost every day and blow dry it often, but my hair is really suffering from it...a lot of breakage or just being generally dry and brittle. You could get one at a salon too, but it would be cheaper to do at home and then you usually have a few more application when you buy the bottle. my opinion is you need a good trim and then a good deep conditioning treatment. I have had good luck with mayo...don't laugh, smear it all over your hair work it in down to the scalp wrap with plastic wrap, soak a towel in hot water and wring it out and wrap it around your head on top of the plastic wrap, set a timer for 20 minutes. but you still will need a trim also.

My hair is a little longer than shoulder lenght and it is straight and a little on the thin side. I usually just put it up but i want to start wearing it down more. I usually dry my hair. It makes it a little frizzy, but it is frizzy when i don't dry it too sometimes. Also it tangles easy. When i wear it down it looks like it needs brushed within 10 minutes, and it isn't always friz or tangles, it just looks bad. Just kind of limp. I put leave-in conditioner to help with frizz and hold it in one place. When is the best time to put this in, before it is dried or after wards. The directions say damp or dry hair. What products or methods should i try to just wear it down, not in any particular way just down. I also am wodering if using a straightener even though my hair is natrally straight will make it look better? Any advise would be helpful because I am not really good with knowing what to do with my hair

I also have a Revlon Wet to Straight Hair Straightener so if your hair is still damp or gets damp it dries and striaghtens it. They only cost $25 and i use it everyday. The straightener has a steamer in it and teflon covered plats. No matter what straightener or spray you use it still damages you hair. Sorry:(

It might be what shampoo your using. Remember to read the labels carfully and if you want pin straight hair i suggest you use the Herbal Essences-Dangerously Straight, the shampoo, consitioner and the pin straight hair spray. You can also try the John Freida 3 in 1 frizz control serum. For best results with that you can also buy the shampoo and conditioner which are pretty expensive but i think you should be all right with the serum only.

okay. i have the same problem with my hair. all you can do is go to google and search for a CHI straightner. its very very good. and if you find a good one your hair will eventually become straight permanently. also when you take a shower and blow dry your hair dont move the blow dryer. put it at an angle so that your hair will be straight. at the top of your head. if you want unique hair try scrunching it or teasing it. once again google will help you find steps to do so.hope it helps

I have that same kind of hair. Does it kind of wave out at random places but not exactly wavy hair? That's what I have. Before you straighten your hair, apply gel or mousse or some kind of styling product (like straightening serum) all over your head and then straighten it. When you're done, spray hairspray on the top and the areas that kink out. There's nothing you can do about it though if it rains. Sorry. Because when your hair gets wet, it dries back to it's natural state.

When i use the flat iron i use CHI Shine Infusion Thermal Polishing Spray ($13)...my hair has never been softer, straighter and shinier. This product though...spray it a couple of inches away from the hair and let the mist fall on it...otherwise if u do it right on the hair it will be terribly greasy.

if i were you id get a CHI flat iron. thats what i have and it works great! i had curly hair this last summer and it always kept it straight. also use a heat guard on your hair to protect it from the iron and that helps keep your hair sleek and smooth too! matrix sleek hair line has a good one to use.

Same Problem Happened to me, I have used every straightener you could buy....

EXCEPT when i went to my hair stylists paid her 150 bucks and got the one she uses that you have to have a cosmetology license to buy.

These are the only ones to keep your hair Straight all day.

dont used a paddle brush

make sure you are using moisturiser on your hair

make sure your straightener is of good quality and reaches tempretures of at least 110 degrees celcius (silverbullet or GHD are good ones)

Use biosilk hair stuff, when its damp...not wet. Also, use some frizz-ease, that works WONDERs...oh, yeh, and make sure you have a good straitener...if yours doesn't work well, I would suggest Remington Wet to Strait...Its AWESOME some of my friends even said it worked better than their $50 straiteners, and its only $20!

I'm thinking put mouse on it before you straighten. Of course you'll have to blow dry it but im thinking this may work. You could also try a light hair spray (like an ultra-fine mist from Tresemme). I'm not 100% sure, but im thinking this may work...

k my hair is SOOOO curly,

its really really thick. its frizy and poofy and dry, and soo curly.

These are all great suggestions above me. When you get a straightner make sure you get a ceramic one. Not just a ceramic coated straightner but a real ceramic straightner. Also, definately use a serium or spray when you use a straightner to protect your hair. A great one is aquage shine spary. And be diligent, spary each section of hair individually to get the maximum protection and style.

You may also want to spend the money to go to a high quality salon to have a fresh cut and color and to talk with the stylist for ideas. They are always willing to talk with you. I have the same issues as you but I do spend the extra money for cuts and colors (about $250 each time) to keep my hair healthy and they way i like it.

first you need to get the bed head straightner its best for your hair cause it has oil coating around plates to protect and really straighten your hair. ALso put olive oil and egg whites in your hair to give it a smooth feel. Buy frizz conditioner and let it soak in your head for about 20 min. after your done with hair straighten it and it WILL work i promise.

I have long, curly, frizzy hair that needs some control. I am considering trying Ogilvie Straightener, a boxed straighteneing system. I read some reviews on another site, but they were not very helpful. If you have or have seen someone who has used this product or a similar product, please let me know if it works.

I have used Ogilvie Straightener and it actually doesn't work. It made my hair brittle and more frizzy because of all the chemicals. I have long, very curly and frizzy hair, that doesn't want to be controlled by anything. But I have used a couple of things that do work. Try either frizz-ease by John Frieda and/or de frizz by Sunsilk. Those work great. The frizz-ease helps more with the frizz and the sunsilk defrizz helps with softness. I use them both. Put them in your hair after you get out of the shower and towel dry your hair...then wait about 10 minutes before styling your hair. Hope this helps!

Use some gel or mousse ,styling pomade for curly hair. Do not perm(relax) your hair.It will be dull ,dry and you will have a harder time getting it to look descent then you do now.No matter what the box says i'm telling you that it would be a mistake and will permanently damage your hair.

My hair is naturally thin and straight , About 2 1/2 yrs ago I got a perm and ever since certain parts of my hair have kept the perm (even though my hair grows FAST) and other parts like my roots and some ends are stick straight. I don't usually straighten my hair but lately I have been. Even when I do straighten my hair it doesn't stay straight and I would love to have soft spiral curls on my ends but no matter what I do curls never hold and I've used several different curling irons, right now I have Revlon's 2 in 1 curler and straightener. Any ideas how to end my frizzy stingy hair besides a cut because that doesn't help and I've already given up my long hair in hopes of better hair, now my hair is a little past my shoulders.

try rollers in your hair. put them in right away and leave them in until you are about to jump in the car. spritz them with a whole bunch of hair spray and let them loose. rollers usually leave a longer lasting curl because they slowly release constant heat; unlike a curling iron which gives a quick touch of heat that changes in temperature from curl to curl and only stays on each hair for a few seconds.

Im just wondering if it is any different for hair whether or not you wash it/style it the night before or wash it/style it in the morning? Is the humidity less likely to mess frizz/mess your hair up if you take a shower the night before since the heat of the blow dryer and straightener is on your hair the night before as opposed to that same day? if that makes sense...or does it effect it the same no matter what?

I don't think its when you style/wash it that matters, its how. you need to use a shampoo and conditioner with enough moisture in it that it wont be flyaway, and dry an anti-frizz product (with silicone) into the hair.
